Nashville Portrait Photographer | Behind the Scenes | Lisa Van-Atta Beauty Shoot
HOW DID I NOT POST THIS ALREADY?! I swear I had already posted the behind the scenes from this session, but APPARENTLY... apparently... I did not.
SO.
Here goes...
A few months ago I was contacted by Meko Davis, of Makeup By Meko, about doing a beauty-style test shoot. I was ecstatic that she had asked, because I was looking to network with more makeup and hair artists to partner with on my own session. I had checked out her body of work and it was beautiful!
It took us a little while to get together, due to some extenuating circumstances that would come up for either her or me, BUT... we finally nailed down a date and time that worked for everyone, and we made this shoot happen!
The shoot was very centered around Meko's makeup and hair stylings. It was the first session in a long time that I wasn't planning or styling, and I have to say, it was a nice little break to just let her work her magic and then apply my finishing touches with the light, camera, and post-production. :)
It was really cool getting to watch Meko work. I am always amazed at the detail makeup and hair artists go into, in order to make a look come out flawlessly. I always learn a little bit here and there as well. Hanging out with makeup artists has really helped my ability to apply my *own* makeup, haha!
Not only was Meko amazing, but so was our model, Lisa Van-Atta! There have been a few times that I have worked with models who were actually camera shy. (Can you believe that? A camera shy model? Haha). But Lisa was most certainly not one of them! Even *while* I was testing my lighting, she was giving it 100%. I honestly didn't have to direct her as much as I have some other models I've worked with, and that was also great. With Meko being so amazing, and Lisa being on her game, it was a really relaxing, kind of therapeutic in a way, shoot for me, haha.
It was such a pleasure getting to work with both Meko and Lisa! I even invited Meko back to work on a Sarah Ngo-Loose's senior portrait session with me! (She did a beautiful job on that session too, by the way). As always with my 'Behind the Scenes' blog posts, I will be following up in a little bit with a post containing finished images. So keep an eye out!
